Beauty: Skincare Essentials for Glowy, Healthy Skin

Glowy, healthy skin is more than just a trend—it’s a lifestyle. Your skin is the canvas for your beauty routine, and taking care of it is one of the best forms of self-care. But with so many products and advice out there, where do you even start? Don’t worry—I’ve got you! This guide breaks down everything you need to know to build the ultimate skincare routine for a radiant glow.

Step 1: Double Cleansing

Double cleansing is the foundation of any solid skincare routine, especially at night. It helps to remove makeup, sunscreen, and impurities, ensuring your skin is fresh and clean before bed.

First Cleanse: Use an oil-based cleanser to dissolve makeup and sunscreen. My favorite is The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser—it’s super gentle, affordable, and leaves my skin feeling so soft. (I can’t live without this product!)

Second Cleanse: Follow up with a water-based cleanser to remove any remaining dirt. I swear by the CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser for its soothing and non-stripping formula.

💡 Pro Tip: Take your time when cleansing—massage your skin for at least 60 seconds to really let the product do its job.

Step 2: Exfoliation

Exfoliating is key to removing dead skin cells and revealing a brighter complexion. But overdoing it can harm your skin barrier, so less is more!

Chemical Exfoliants: These are gentler and more effective than physical scrubs. I love Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant because it tackles blackheads and smooths out skin texture.

How Often: 1-2 times a week is perfect for most skin types.

💡 Pro Tip: Always follow up with moisturizer and SPF after exfoliating—your skin will be extra sensitive.

Step 3: Hydration is Everything

Dehydrated skin can look dull and feel tight, even if you have an oily skin type. Incorporating hydrating products into your routine will plump up your skin and give it that coveted dewy look.

Toner/Essence: Start with a hydrating toner or essence like Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence—it’s a game-changer for adding hydration.

Serums: Look for serums with hyaluronic acid. My holy grail is The Inkey List Hyaluronic Acid Serum because it’s lightweight yet super effective.

💡 Pro Tip: Apply hydrating products on damp skin—it helps lock in moisture better!

Step 4: Nourish with Active Ingredients

Active ingredients are where the real magic happens. They target specific skin concerns like acne, dark spots, or fine lines.

Vitamin C: For brightening and evening out skin tone, I love SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Serum (if you can splurge) or La Roche-Posay Pure Vitamin C Serum for an affordable option.

💡 Pro Tip: Only introduce one active ingredient at a time to avoid overwhelming your skin.

Step 5: Lock it All In with Moisturizer

A good moisturizer is non-negotiable. It seals in all the goodness from your previous steps and keeps your skin barrier strong.

For Oily Skin: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel is lightweight yet incredibly hydrating.

For Dry Skin: First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream is thick, rich, and perfect for dry or sensitive skin.

💡 Pro Tip: Don’t forget your neck—it needs just as much love as your face!

Step 6: Sunscreen is Non-Negotiable

If you’re not wearing sunscreen daily, you’re undoing all your hard work. UV rays can cause premature aging, dark spots, and even skin cancer.

Best Overall: Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen is lightweight, clear, and perfect under makeup. (This product has changed my life—I never leave the house without it!)

💡 Pro Tip: Apply sunscreen generously, and don’t forget areas like your ears and neck.

Optional Extras: Treat Yourself

Face Masks: For a weekly treat, try the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask for hydration or the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Mask for deep pore cleansing.

Eye Creams: If puffiness or dark circles are a concern, I recommend Kiehl’s Avocado Eye Cream—it’s rich but absorbs beautifully.

Facial Tools: Tools like Jade rollers or Gua sha can boost circulation and make your skincare routine feel extra luxurious.

Building a Routine That Works for You

The key to great skin is consistency, not perfection. Start with the basics—cleanser, moisturizer, and SPF—and slowly add in extras like serums or exfoliants as your skin adapts. Everyone’s skin is different, so listen to yours and adjust accordingly.
